UNDERWATER SHOOT
Anna , Wednesday 09 January 2008 - 10:32:35 // comment: 10

img_0189pic.jpgWe recently conducted some Underwater Shoots in Alastair's swimming pool.  Durchy brought along his underwater housing and lights and Alastair shot some video of the shoot,  Mervin joined in the fun taking photos with his underwater camera.

Adele modelled along with me at the first shoot.  Great fun was had by all, and the day produced some really interesting photographs.  Being our first underwater shoot, we models had to learn to hold our breath without bobbing up to the top and look pretty and relaxed at the same time - this is not as easy as it sounds!  Adele mastered posing underwater quickly and she became really relaxed - some of her photos came out really well.  I on the other hand needed a little more practice.  Andrea - my daughter tried her hand at posing underwater and we were thrilled with the results.

We learnt that the make up tends to wash off quickly and made the water quite murky towards the end of the day.  So it is off to the shops to find waterproof makeup.

A second underwater shoot was held last Sunday, again in Alastair's pool.  This time Dutchy came armed with enough make up to make any girl weep.  We applied the make up which is said to be waterproof sparyed on fixing spary and hoped it would not wash off.  The rain the previous night made the water murky, and it was not as clear as we would have hoped.  At least the water was quite warm and we were able to shoot all day without getting too cold.  This time around even though many models were invited to join us no one made it to the shoot except myself and Megan, Alastair's daughter stepped in to pose.

All I can say is, this is a fabulous experience and a great opportunity to try something different, it defenitely takes you out of your comfort zone as a model, and challenges both the model and the photographer.

We are defenitely going to be doing some more underwater shoots, and we hope to be able to do the next one in a heated olympic sized pool.  So watch this space for details.
